It is with great pain and tears in our eyes that we announce the passing on of Arc. Luqman Olakunle Babatunde who Before his untimely death was the HOD of the Department of Architecture Technology, School of Environmental Studies, The Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki.

He was involved in a ghastly accident along Ibadan to Iseyin road, yesterday, 30th of May 2022.
The deceased was happily married to Mrs Titilope Babatunde and blessed with children.

Report received from our correspondences stated that, senior lecturers in the department and students studying Architecture under his directives have all travelled to his residence in IBADAN, this morning for a condolence visit to his Family, Wife and Kids.

Words may not suffice to express our heartfelt sorrow for the passing of our beloved Arc. L. O. Babatunde, PRESS COUNCIL TOPS, sends condolences to the bereaved. May his gentle soul rest in Perfect Peace.

Information get to us that the wife of Arc,Babatunde,Mrs Titilope Babatunde said on her Facebook chat with with people that her husband is not dead ,She said in her response to people R.I.P comments for her husband that it is rumore that anyone who put it on that he husband is dead should bring it down because her husband is not dead but the public should keep praying for him

A student of the department of architecture put a call through to the Mrs Titilope Babatunde and she informed the student that her husband was in the accident but not dead he his in a critical condition
She said the public should pray for him.

New Era for Students Union Government @Tops

SWEARING IN OF THE NEWLY ELECTED STUDENTS’ UNION EXECUTIVES.
25th May, 2022.

The swearing in was to commence by 2:00pm at the Rector’s Conference Room but due to the unavailability of the elected officers at the scheduled time, the programme commenced at 2:34pm.
Before the programme kicked off lively, one of the staff at the Rector’s office scolded the elected officials to be time conscious in occasions like this especially official assignments.

The swearing in started at 2:45pm with an opening prayer from Comr. Oyewale Azeez, the newly appointed President of Federation of Ibadan Students’ Union, TOPS Chapter.
Introduction of attendees was done hierarchically by the P. A to the Acting Rector.

The Acting Rector, Dr Y. A Fasasi congratulated and gave accolades to the outgoing executives of Students’ Union Transition Committee for their impact made during the short time spent in their administration including the renovation of the Students’ Union building done during their tenure.
Moreover, He congratulated the new executives for being successful in the virtual election. He then admonished the incoming executives to be peaceful agents and ensure a violence free environment on and off campus for the betterment of smooth running of proposed school calendar. Initially, he stated that the officials should not be carried away with power, however should discharge their respective duties in conjunction with the constitution and Directorate of Students’ Affairs approval.

The taking of oaths by the executives was led by the school Registrar with a signature signed individually by the executive at the bottom of the oath’s paper. Along the line, a mail was received by the Rector from the state government about the approval of long awaited solar light for our prestigious institution(The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic,Saki).
There were jubilations at that moment signifying a time of new era for the institution because the institution had also received a brand new staff bus by the state government some weeks ago. The Rector was awed and heartily felicitated with the progress made as at when the election was held until date. He further advised the executives to add to this progress and development of the institution at all cost.
After the oaths taking, the newly inaugurated Students’ Union President Sen. Echekwumene God’s power Kester made his speech. In his speech, he appreciated all Topsites for their supports, having elected him as executive President of this higher citadel of learning. He appreciated the management, Directorate of Students’ Affairs, Students’ Union Independent Electoral Committee and all stakeholders on campus for their positive efforts on conduct of a free, fair and a successful election. He further promised to work for the development of the school and welfarism of the students his utmost priority.

More so, The Dean, Students’ Affairs also advised the new executives to work in cooperation with the School Management and liaise with the Directorate of Students’ Affairs, should they need a way out in discharging their duties and responsibilities.

The National Association of Saki Students’ Union (NAOSS)HQ President was also present at the swearing in, including some National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) officials.

The closing prayer was led by the Students’ Union Transition Committee (SUTC) Chairman. The programme came to an end exactly 3:34pm with a section of group photography among the management, new executives and all stakeholders present at the event.

Police Arrest Hamzat Oriyomi And later release Him

The management of Agidigbo FM, Ibadan, Oyo State, has confirmed the arrest of its founder, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, alleging that he was arrested on Thursday morning over his call for justice in the murder of Timothy Adegoke, a Postgraduate student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.
Adegoke died in a hotel owned by Rahmon Adedoyin in Ile-Ife last year.
Adedoyin and his staff have been arrested in connection with the death of Adegoke, a native of Eruwa in Oyo state.
The management of the station has however claimed that its owner was arrested because he has been calling for a thorough investigation in the murder case.
Yousuph Grey Adebayo, Head of Station, Agidigbo 88.7 FM, Ibadan in a statement made available to DAILY POST alleged that the owner of the station was arrested only because he has been calling for justice in the murder of the deceased.

But the FBI disclaim the fact that he was arrested because he was fighting for justice they said he was arrested due to cyber security bullying

Sadden to know that at TOPS, A recently Graduated Student pass away.

TOPS PRESS COUNCIL’s correspondences report the tragedy that occurred on 14th, May 2022. A graduating student named Muhammad AbdulAzeez gave up to ghost. It’s quite a saddening and heartaching occurrence. The Immediate graduated student was an ND student of Business Administration and Management Department.

This happened on the 14th May 2022, what a painful incident it was!.The cause of his death was said to be a fatal sickness, and it all happened at his home in Ibadan.The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki mourns over his untimely death.

To the Family and friends of the deceased, PRESS COUNCIL TOPS deeply sympathizes with you and unwaveringly support. Wishing you all peace, comfort, courage and lots of love at the time of your sorrow, our hearts are tripping out to you at this difficult and trying time.

May his gentle soul rests in perfect peace. Amen.

INVITATION TO APPEAR BEFORE THE STUDENT UNION ELECTION PETITIONS COMMITTEE.

The petition hearing was held by the petition committee on 28th of April, 2022.

The dean SOSSA made a Speech about transparency and accountability of the election comparing the loss and the winner that whatever the case may be, they admit it. He, the dean, further said the committee is so fair regarding the petition that the consultant and dean SA were invited yesterday to give full information about how the elections went.

The dean SFMS made use of pyfort table in excel to show some data regarding the vote.
The grand total of the SRC election was 4966 voters.

The variance of the two votes are three. Mobolaji Oyeleke Maryam name didn’t appear on the vote list but she said she voted that day;also Maryam said she has a video evidence. While the second Voter, Adegoke Samuel also voted and his name was shown on the vote list, both of them were agents.

The total number of agents were 29 but just 2 of them were present.

The Science Faculty Dean said so many people were unable to vote on the election day.

One Morufat Iyanuoluwa said the election was free and fair online, no rigging, and no snatching of ballot boxes that day, but there was poor network according to her view which affected both she and her colleagues to vote that day.
Some questions were asked by a petitioner which are:

The DSA said it is only applied chemistry ND & HND students that are eligible to vote that day.

Mr Adeoti said whether you sign or not, he will announce KESTER and there is nothing the voters will do, is this supposed to be?.
He further said the PRO 2 and Welfare 2 are automatically disqualified because they were not present , though their names were appeared on the vote list.
The committee rounded off with an assurance to give out their possible best to resolve the petitions including the questions in an unbiased manner and the outcome of it would be communicated to all petitioners appropriately.
