TOPS ORIENTATION PROGRAMME DAY 4

The programme began with the recitation of the National Anthem, Oyo State and Oke-ogun anthem. The programme was anchored by Mr. Abiodun, popularly known as (MC MIRINDA). After the National Anthem, the fresher’s were admonished to listen attentively to the lectures about to be delivered.
The first lecture was delivered by Dr. Mrs. Yemisi Adedokun, she explained about psychometrics studies (GNS106) which is now a core course and it’s an online course for all fresher’s and stellite; both ND1 and HND1. She said the registration for the course is #3000 and Textbook to be used for the whole program is #3250.


She also made mention of immoral dressings among all students, she said “even we can’t eradicate immoral dressings, we can only minimize it so that the Students can look decent”.
The second lecture was delivered by Mr A.S Oladeji ( Dean SFMS) which he discussed about the effects and dangers of cultist groups, he mentioned ways in which the cultist group initiate new members to their confraternity, by being kind to the new student and even accommodate them in order to gain the trust of the new student. He advised every students to report anyone who is disturbing or threatening them to the management and he also give chances for questions and answers section.
Also, Mr Azeez kehinde also shared his experience about cultists group in The Polytechnic,Ibadan and he also spoke in the absence of Mr Malik Olayiwola who is the Chairman for Sports Advisory Committee, he sent his greetings to all fresher’s and congratulated them,he urged all students to join the sports clubs consisting all types of sports activities like Football, Basketball, Volleyball,etc.
The representative of UBA bank was also recognized and an Upcoming artist named Mayor D was also on ground to perform and entertain the fresher’s.

  • Mr. Adeoti O. Micheal, the Dean of student affairs was the chairman of the meeting.
  • Opening of the meeting and the agenda was given.
    The purpose of the meeting was to sit together and discuss problems facing students on campus, part of which is robbery and attack on hostels brought up by the President of Saki students, issue of the medical/ health centre, bikers of the school, who can issue attestation letters, and the likes.
    The dean further explain what the Students Affairs D’s means to student affairs. Decency, Diligence, Discipline, Democratization and Digitalization.
    He further talked about how the Student union selection/ Election has been democratized.

According to the conversations, one of the attendances move the motion on the new cause introduction by Ministry of education which is Psychometric course in his words he said in his department is not useful to them and moreover the particular course ain’t adding any value to their G.P.But,the acting Vice-Registrar answered that the School has no right to dismiss any course and that particular course is meant to test the brain capacity of all students.
The Dean Students Affairs advised to agitate in a rightful manner and not to use nasty languages in the process of agitations. Also,Mr Agboola urged the Managements to address the issues of no parking in the school premises. In addition,he advised the Managements to provide a parking space in the school premises. He as well made mention of the filthiness of the class and Nonchalant attitudes of the school health center. Mr Agboola also asked the SUG President about his agenda for the Students in large.
The SUG Welfare said they are planning to set-up a welfarism committee which will consist all departments welfares; the Dean Students Affairs informed the SUG to provide at least a waste bin in each classes.
Alarm was raised concerning the high rate of hostel fees and security issues outside the campus. And also, concerning the high rate of Associations fees without the proper spending of it.
The meeting finally ended at 5:13pm.

TOPS Orientation programme Day 2, 15th of July 2022.

The programme commenced with the recitation of the National Anthem, Oyo State and Oke-ogun anthem. The programme was anchored by Mr. Abiodun, popularly known as (MC MIRINDA). After the National Anthem,  The freshers were admonished to listen attentively to the lectures about to be delivered.

The first lecture was delivered by MR. J.O. Adigun from Academic Affairs, He spoke about the student registration, “All students were enjoined to satisfy the Institution’s admission requirements before printing their admission letter”. He also said that freshers should complete their registration between the stipulated time.

The second lecture was delivered by ENGR M.O Azeez (Registrar for VSESC). He explained that, VSESC has to do with vocational studies where students needs to learn all sort of trades of their choice. Furthermore, he emphasized that the course title is EED and it is a compulsory/core course. He adviced the fresh students on campus that EED will be another means by which ones needs can be satisfy after graduating from school.

Again, Mr. Bamimore from the Institution’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre, he spoke about how the fresh men on campus can easily access their student portal.

The representative of NDLEA also addressed the freshers about drug abuse or addiction and it’s consequences. Some of the consequences are as follows:
1. Damages to Health
2. Social problem
3. Academics Retardness

He continues by saying drug abuse can affect behaviours, either in or out of the campus, which may result to suspension or total rustication from the institution.
He buttress his points by saying the purpose arresting drug abusers was to treat and counsel them on how to avoid abusive of drug.

Lastly, he advised the freshers to be careful of the company they keep, so as not to end up in such a situation.

The IBEDC representative, Mr ojetunde Sunday Olawale.

After all the lectures and recognition, the programme come to an end at exactly 1:50pm.

Swearing-in ceremony for TOPS Students Representative COUNCIL(SRC)

The SRC consist of 20 members after taking of oath of office the SRC members elected their Leaders,

However, the DSA advice the Honourables to be discipline and be ready to work hand in hand with the SUE for the growth of the Institution and students welfare, the Honourables were also advice to avoid corruption. The staff of office was handed over to the leadership of the SRC.

The Oke- Ogun Polytechnic 2021/2022 Orientation program

The 2021/2022 academic session fresher’s week day one 14th of June ,2022.

The orientation programme commenced with the introduction of Principal officers of the Institution and special guest by the P.A Media to the rectory. Welcome address was taken by Mr. O.M Adeoti (Dean S.A.O.). He adviced the freshmen to be cautious of whatever they do on campus, he also talks about the mode of dressing and pray for the well-being of the new students on campus.

The Acting Rector, Dr. Y.A Fasasi also Addressed the freshmen to be law abiding student, to be peaceful and focus on their Studies.

However, the Fresher’s were also adviced by Mr.B.L. Ojo JP, FNIM(Ag.Registrar).

Meanwhile, Every speaker at the orientation programme emphasized on the rules and regulations of the institution.

The fresher’s were taken on familiarization tour to the key places on the campus. The tour was led by the DSA.

Three days flag down by Southwest government.

In view of decision it was stated that the Southwest Governor forum has assent approved that the flags be flown at half mast from Monday June 13,2022,to Wednesday June 15, in honor of the slain victims at owo ondo state
The governors denounced in very strong terms the horrendous crime perpetrated by terrorists against the people and the residents of owo ondo State and by extension the peace loving people of the south west

It is also stated that after the June 12 holiday which is Sunday 12th June 2022
That was rescheduled to Monday 13th June 2022, it was said that work should start with immediate effect
The public should take note
Note: The flag to be flown is not an holiday but in honour of the victims in owo Ondo state attack which happened on Sunday 5th of June 2022.

ROBBERY COMPLAIN RECEIVED FROM STUDENTS

According to report received from our correspondence, Robbery activities is becoming enormous and unbearable for the student of this institution, it is stated that Dove and Adebowale hostel recently become the victim of the unwelcome incidence.

A student residing in Dove hostel narrated that the incident happened on Sunday night 29th of may 2022/ Monday morning, 30th of may 2022 it was presumed that the robbers came with detrimental objects such as gun and other arms,

However, the operation lasted for like an hour, while robbers looted some valuable assets from some victims, such as: phones, laptops, money and so many other things.

REMINDER!!! TOPS Orientation Programme

TOPS Fresh Students orientation programme for 2021/22 academic session is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, 14th June and ends on Friday, 17th June, 2022.

The orientation programme is scheduled to hold at New 500 capacity hall and its surrounding premises. The  programme is scheduled to commence exactly 10:00am-2:00pm daily.

  All lectures that are expected to hold at 500 capacity hall between the time scheduled for the orientation programme are to be shifted to another venue in order to avoid clash.

  The four days programme will not be complete lectures and test free . Fresh students are expected to attend classes between 8:00am-10:00am and 2:00pm-6:00pm each day.

Oke Ogun Poly Celebrates Makinde’s Wife At 50

The management of Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki has felicitated with the wife of the Oyo state Governor, Engineer Mrs Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde over the celebration of her 50th birthday.

The institution made this known in a statement signed by Dr Y.A .FASASI, Ag Rector and B.L OJO, Ag. Registrar on Thursday and made available to newsmen.

The statement read: “The Governing Council, Management, Staff and Students of The Oke Ogun Polytechnic Saki has felicitated with the First Lady Of Oyo State, Her Excellency Engr. Mrs. Tamunominini olufunke Makinde on this Glorious Occasion of Her Golden Jubilee .
  
“We Identify with you and rejoice with you on this Noble day of Your Excellency’s Birth and Pray for Long Life and Prosperity.
“You are Indeed a great blessing to the Pacesetter State.
