Iseyin-born Jurist, Olukayode Ariwoola Becomes Acting CJN as Tanko Mohammed Resigns Justice Olukayode Ariwoola will be sworn-in as the next Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), after the sudden resignation of Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad from the exalted judicial position.
CJN’s spokesperson, Ahuraka Isah, confirmed the resignation of his principal on Monday morning. Muhammad was reported to have tendered his resignation in a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, citing health reasons.
Although reports had it that Justice Muhammad was seriously ill, his resignation comes amid corruption allegation levelled against him by some Supreme Court judges.
It would be recalled that the CJN, was last week accused of corruption and professional misconduct by 14 of the apex court judges.
Among the allegations levelled against the former CJN was owning some secret foreign accounts, which were run in a manner inconsistent with financial transparency and the code of conduct for public officials.
Muhammed, who denied the allegations of corruption levelled against him, stepped into office after Walter Onnoghen, his predecessor, was removed on a controversial note in 2019, following a petition filed against him at the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) by a civil rights group.
Onnoghen was convicted by the Code of Conduct Tribunal on April 18, 2019, for false assets declaration, and banned from holding public office for 10 years.
In the meantime, if Ariwoola eventually takes over, Ariwoola is billed to leave the Judicial service in 2028.
Prior to becoming a Justice of the Supreme Court, Ariwoola was appointed a judge of the Oyo State High Court in 1992 and later made a Justice of the Court of Appeal in November 2005, afterwhich he was appointed to the bench of the Supreme Court of Nigeria as a Justice on November 22, 2011.

drug abuse, the excessive, maladaptive, or addictive use of drugs for nonmedical purposes despite social, psychological, and physical problems that may arise from such use. Abused substances include such agents as which are used by some athletes to accelerate muscular development and increase strength and which can cause heartsdiseases, liver damage, and other physical problems; and psychotropics agents, substances that affect the user’s mental state and are used to produce changes in mood, feeling, and perception. The latter category, which has a much longer history of abuse, includes opium (and such derivatives as heroin), hallucinogen, barbiturate, cocaine, amphetamines, tranquilizer, the several forms of cannabis, and alcohols. A brief treatment of drug abuse follows. For full treatment, see doctor.
The major problem that arises from the consumption of psychotropic drugs is dependence, the compulsion to use the drug despite any deterioration in health, work, or social activities. Dependence varies from drug to drug in its extent and effect; it can be physical or psychological or both. Physical dependence becomes apparent only when the drug intake is decreased or stopped and an involuntary illness called the withdrawal (or abstinence) syndromes occurs. Drugs known to produce physical dependence are the opiates (i.e., opium and its derivatives) and central-nervous-system depressants such as barbiturates and alcohol. Psychological dependence is indicated when the user relies on a drug to produce a feeling of well-being. This type of dependence varies widely with both substance and user. In its most intense form the user becomes obsessed with the drug and focuses virtually all his
interest and activity on obtaining and using it.
Another related phenomenon is tolerance, a gradual decrease in the effect of a certain dose as the drug is repeatedly taken; increasingly larger doses are needed to produce the desired effect. Tolerance does not always develop. It is most marked with habitual opiate users. The term addiction is often used synonymously with dependence but should probably be reserved for drugs known to cause physical dependence.
Other hazards of drug abuse include general risks, such as the danger of infection by the AIDS virus and other diseases that can be communicated by use of nonsterile needles or syringes when drugs are taken by injection. Some hazards are associated with the specific effects of the particular drug—paranoia with high doses of stimulants, for example. In addition, adverse social effects stemming from drug abuse are numerous.
Heroin, an opiate that is not used medically in the UnitedStates, is one of the drugs most associated with abuse and addiction in the eyes of the public. In general, opiates are called narcotic because they are used medically to relieve pain and produce sleep. Other opiates that have been abused are opium, morphine, pethidine, codeine, dipipanone, and methadone. Methadone is often used in substitution therapy as a less-addictive opiate that, theoretically at least, can be used to wean the user off heroine and eventually off opiates altogether.
Drugs that either depress or stimulate the central nervoussystem have long been used for nonmedical reasons. Depressants include all sedatives and hypnotics such as barbiturates and benzimidazole (minor tranquilizers). These are usually taken by mouth but can be injected. The main stimulants are amphetamines or their derivatives and cocaine, a natural component of the leaves of the coca plant. Amphetamines can be taken by mouth or injected; cocaine is either injected or inhaled through the nose. One form of cocaine (freebase, or cracks) is generally smoked.
Other drugs that are frequently abused include cannabis (marijuana, hashish, etc., from the hemp plant Cannabis sativa), PCP, and such hallucinogens, or psychedelics, as LSD and mescaline.
The purchase, sale, and nonmedical consumptions of all the aforementioned drugs are illegal, and these psychotropic drugs can be obtained only on the blackmarkets. However, this is not the only route to drug abuse. Alcohol, for instance, can be legally purchased throughout much of the world, despite its high potential for abuse. Also, dependence on prescribed drugs is not uncommon, especially with tranquilizers and hypnotics. What was once a serious social problem of dependence on prescribed barbiturates has been overtaken largely by the widespread use of benzimidazole tranquilizers such as diazepam (Valium) and chlordiazepoxide (Librium). Millions of legal prescriptions for these drugs are issued every year.
Problems relating to drug abuse can also occur with substances not normally thought of as drugs. Solvent abuse, commonly known as “glue-sniffing,” is a growing problem, especially among teenagers and even younger children. The inhalation of volatile solvents produces temporary euphoria but can lead to death by respiratory depression, asphyxiation, or other causes
Being off campus is fun but it’s easy to gain a false sense of security and feeling of safety when surrounded by your peers. After all, they’re just honest students like you, Right? Wrong?. It’s important to acknowledge and remember that you don’t always know who you can trust, even when you’re in the college campus bubble. While the threat of danger may not always be your first assumption, it’s important to be prepared should a situation ever present itself. Additionally, there are easy ways to prevent yourself from becoming more vulnerable than necessary or putting yourself into potentially harmful situations. The following safety tips can help you avoid dangerous situations or help you if should you find yourself in a risky situation or environment
Don’t allow technology to make you unaware of your surroundings Everyone with headphones, a smartphone and an MP3 player knows – the minute you’re plugged in, you barely exist anymore! You stare at your phone, zoned out; not knowing what is going on around you. This, in essence, is exactly what you should be avoiding.
When you start finding yourself becoming unaware of what’s going on around you is the time you need to consider turning the music down, putting your phone away and opening your eyes to what’s happening.
No, you don’t need to call it an early night just because one of your friends does. But, what you should do is ensure you always have a minimum of one person with you that you know (and know you can trust).
Never walk alone at night Walking around alone and in the dark is basically asking for trouble. Sure, there are times that you need to get from point A to point B which may occur at night, but you should always abide by the buddy system so that, should something happen, you’re not on your own.
Utilize locks While it’s easy to become relaxed in college life, there are some habits that should always remain standard. Locking your doors, especially when you’re alone or asleep, should be one of them.
Carry some emergency cash It’s good to have some cash on you at all times, just in case. Perhaps your credit card won’t work or your debit card gets lost. You never want to be stuck in a scary situation because you don’t have the necessary funds to get out of it as quickly as possible.
Never stay at a party when your friend leaves
Being alone in a party setting isn’t smart – go home if you’re going to be alone because it is not worth the risk to stay – no matter how nice everyone there seems.
Always have emergency contacts on you or in your device If you have a smartphone, program emergency numbers into it. It’s one of the first spots hospitals check if you’re admitted alone because they are able to bypass your pass code in order to access your contacts.
Additionally, list your important emergency contact numbers and information in your planner, if you carry one. Whatever items you have on a regular basis are good spots to keep emergency information.
Consider carrying pepper spray, a whistle or taking a self-defense course The hope is certainly that you’d never need to make use of these defense mechanisms, however, having them with you can make a life-saving difference in harmful situations you otherwise might not be able to get out of.

According to the report from the meeting with the Honorables on the 22nd of June, 2022. The meeting commenced by 12:43pm. The agendas of the meeting are listed below :
-Familiarity-Setting up committee
-Setting up committee
-ID Cards issue
-Observing of the protocold
-President of the department threatening the Students
-Addressing of Students by the SRC
-Allowing of bikes and vehicles by the Honourables
-Immoral dressings
-Issues of bike fares
Firstly, the Council talked about the how presidents of different department threaten their course mates. It was said that if they did not dance to their tunes, they will fail them academically. The council agree to look into the matter.
However, one of the Honorables asked that; is it right for an honorable to ride a bike into the school? A member of the council replied that, since there is no evidence of being an honorable, it shouldn’t be so. In addition to that, a member of the council also said he think it’s not permitted for the honourable to bring in vehicle since they are representing the Students; that they should abide by the rules and regulations of the institution he further advice that they are for the students and they should partake in what ever the students are passing through
Immoral dressings Students was also addressed. It was said that the security guards were being biased sometimes, in which some set of students may dress grossly and will still be permitted to enter the campus. One of the Honorables replied that sometimes it’s not the fault of the security guards, some Students come into the institution with bikes and vehicles and it’s not possible for the security men to stop all vehicles and bikes in other to check the Students’ dressings.
The Council suggested that the rule of entering the school campus by ID cards should be implemented, which mean without ID card, no student should be allow to come in. But for the freshers that are yet to get ID cards, it will be appropriate if they can come along with their acceptance fee receipts, therefore in the process of checking their ID card or acceptance fee, their dressings can also be check properly, including the Students on bikes and in the cars. Also, the increment of bike fares was also deliberated on. However, a suggestion was made that the SAO and the SUG should be informed to address the issue in order to call the bike riders’ chairman to a notice.
Present at the first Students Representative Council(SRC)are sixteen (16) Representatives out of twenty (20)

Anyone can father a child, but being a dad takes a lifetime. Fathers play a role in every child’s life that cannot be filled by others. This role can have a large impact on a child and help shape him or her into the person they become.
Fathers and Emotional Development
Fathers, like mothers, are pillars in the development of a child’s emotional well-being. Children look to their fathers to lay down the rules and enforce them. They also look to their fathers to provide a feeling of security, both physical and emotional. Children want to make their fathers proud, and an involved father promotes inner growth and strength. Studies have shown that when fathers are affectionate and supportive, it greatly affects a child’s cognitive and social development. It also instills an overall sense of well-being and self confidence.
Fathers Set the Bar for Relationships with Others
Fathers not only influence who we are inside, but how we have relationships with people as we grow. The way a father treats his child will influence what he or she looks for in other people. Friends, lovers, and spouses will all be chosen based on how the child perceived the meaning of the relationship with his or her father. The patterns a father sets in the relationships with his children will dictate how his children relate with other people.
Father helps the children to shape their future by sensitizing them on choice of friends
Fathers and Their Daughters
Young girls depend on their fathers for security and emotional support. A father shows his daughter what a good relationship with a man is like. If a father is loving and gentle, his daughter will look for those qualities in men when she’s old enough to begin dating. If a father is strong and valiant, she will relate closely to men of the same character.
Fathers and Their Sons
Unlike girls, who model their relationships with others based on their father’s character, boys model themselves after their father’s character. Boys will seek approval from their fathers from a very young age. As human beings, we grow up by imitating the behavior of those around us; that’s how we learn to function in the world. If a father is caring and treats people with respect, the young boy will grow up much the same. When a father is absent, young boys look to other male figures to set the “rules” for how to behave and survive in the world.
So today, don’t forget to tell your dad you love him, and thanks for being there!
