The Acting Rector commenced his speech by recognizing the management board, staff, press crew, parents and the matriculating students present at the event.

“Matriculation is necessary for newly admitted students irrespective of the type of programme the student has opted for,as failure to do so will lead to punishment legally backed up by the school,if the student is found engaging in school activities”

Also, he showed his gratitude towards the gracious and invaluable financial support of the incumbent Governor of the state, Engr Oluseyi Makinde,to the institution which has made it possible to hold an event of such.

“after 5 sessions of pre-budget meetings which he held with Oyo state owned institutions, and we also met with some relevant honourable commissions,he decided to add the sum of seven million for all schools to do their accreditations and reactivation of programs.”
And this depicts how much the Governor cherishes education in the state and wants the best for students.

Esv Ogunmola also stated the purposes of matriculation where he urged the matriculating students to celebrate and rejoice in moderation, after citing as an example,a book from the 70s titled “sadness and joy”,stating that both sadness and joy are inevitable, but should not let sadness prevail and never let being overjoyed lead to sadness.

Who are we to believe? Engr Seyi Makinde or The Management.

By, Sapient Writa.

On the 8th of January,2020,the Management of The Oke Ogun Polytechnic,Saki (TOPS) released an official memo, written, as a welcoming address to both stallites and fresh students on campus where it was also clearly and bodly stated, that the Executive Governor of the State,Engr Oluseyi Makinde has approved 10% reduction in both tuition fees and other necessary charges paid by the students.

“The Management wishes to inform both staff and students that the Executive Governor of Oyo State, who is also a visitor to the institution,Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde has graciously approved 10% reduction in tuition fee and other charges paid by the students”.

However, before the release of the memo on 8th of January, the Institution had long resumed school activities and even freshers had began their clearance procedures in which the charges paid by then weren’t expected to be effective to the 10% in reduction fees,as only students who commenced their clearance exercise aftermath the release of memo will be subjected to the effect of the released memo, which was actually effectively and efficiently used and followed just for weeks before it was eventually manipulated.

Newly admitted students(freshers) do pay a total sum of Eight thousand, seven hundred Naira(N8,700) which includes the “Medical Examination fee” at the rate of N5000, “Brochure and Oaths fee” at the rate of N1200, “payment for customized book” at the rate of N2000 and “payment for Oke Ogun Poly History” at the rate of N500 before the official intervention and release for reduction on the charges paid.

Then, freshers had to start paying at the rate of the reduced amount which changed to N4500, N1100, N1800 and N450 respectively which was effective and lasted for just few weeks and was later increased again to the way it was before the 10% reduction.

Few days, ago, students (freshers) were found to be paying the sum of N8,350,with the breakdown of N7,850 as the total sum of the aforementioned fees with the addition of N500 as remittal fee which has never been in existence in the system for a long time now and at that, still collects the amount of N8,700 from the students again in total.

If this is going the be the new development, shouldn’t the management deem it fit to release an explicit and open memo to back up thier actions just like they did in respect to the 10% reduction.

The students are confused and in a state of dysarthria.

He emphasized on the students who have one or few issues regarding to thier results but might still want to proceed with the clearance process, which is the reason for the HOD’s attestation.
