The meeting commenced as scheduled at SENG conference room by 10am. The Chairman Transition Committee gives the opening address at the comencement of the Sumit.
Firstly, The Stakeholders ask the student Union Transition Committee the stipulated amount to be paid for SUG receipt, howevere, the committee replies that all students are expected to pay the minimum amount of 400 each, a member of the Stakeholders then pleaded with the president to disseminate the information to the student through the appropriate information platform.
Chairman Transition Committee explained that the student will not agree paying 400naira for the bill unless the Stakeholders agree and motivate them to cooperate with paying the bill, At that point, stakeholders members request to know the proposed agenda the committee have prepare for the students if it is necessary they pay that huge amount for the bill when the semester is almost at the edge. Howevere, no definite reply was given by the transition committee, they only promise to execute a tangible project to appease the students.
The committee further stated that SRC election scheduled for 19th Feb, 2022 will be a physical voting system, meanwhile the eligibility criteria for the voting is the SUG receipt/bill as stated by the transition Committee.
After all discussions, it was decided that the transition Committee will visit each department on campus to announce the issue of acquiring the SUG receipt, meanwhile the stakeholders promise to back up the motion.
Transition committee asked the Presidents and Governors of schools and departments, among the stakeholders about the issues they encounter in their various jurisdiction, which they want the committee to iron out and rectify as soon as possible.
One of the presidents Talked about how rude the bike men on campus are in addressing the students. He also stated the fact that the transportation fee is not fixed, and how they endanger the life of student while taking short cut to various destination.
A member of the Stakeholders raised the issue of Medical and the NHIS on school fee receipt, meanwhile the committee promise to work on it.
The stakeholders unveil their concer about how safe the SUE Virtual voting system is, because they don’t want the number of voters to be more than the number of students voting, The committee ultimately assure how secure and safe the Virtual voting system is.
Note: PRESS COUNCIL’s correspondence investigate the issue of SRC voting system. Subsequently, the DSA corroborate that all the coming election (SRC & SUE) will be a Virtual voting system as initially scheduled, not a physical voting system. However, Petitioning is physical.
