SBCS WEEK: DAY 2

The programme commence at exactly 10:10am. After the recitation of national anthem, then the invited guest was introduced properly and officially by the programme coordinator. The introduction goes thus, introduction of The Acting Rector in person of Engr. M.B. Fasasi, The former rector of TOPS, Mr. M.O. Oladeji, Professor Aderemi Sulaimon Ajala, Mr. J.O. Babalola Adigun, Acting Chairman J.A. Olaleye, Mr. R.A. Tiamiyu, Acting H.O.D. Public Admin. M. k. Olakunle, H.O.D. LGDS Mr. O.A. Abegunrin, H.O.D. Bus. Admin. Mr Abubakar, Dean SBCS Barrister Olabode

Welcome address was delivered by Dean SBCS in person of barrister Olabode. He welcome and thanks the Invited Guest, All the HOD’s, Students, Members of Teaching and non Teaching staff and all the participants.

The first lecture was delivered by Mr. J.O. Babalola Adigun, the deputy registra of TOPS. Before he started the delivering of the speech, his citation was  read to the hearing of the participants. The theme of his lecture is JOB ETHICS IN HIGHER INSTITUTION IN NIGERIA. Here are some notable point of the lecture
1.Protocol 2.Loyalty 3.Confidentiality 4.Law abiding staff 5.Regularity and Punctuality  6.Carrying out of instruction and directive with dispatch 7.Coorporate dressing by member of staff 8.According colleagues and outsiders they deserve 9.Transparency 10.Accountability 11.Professionalism 12.Reliability and 13.Discipline.

The Acting Rector later delivered a welcome address. He firstly Welcome a special Guest in person of Professor Ajala, First and foremost, he give thanks to God almighty for the programme, He appreciated the governing council of the entire institution in which co-incidentally Dean of SBCS happen to be a member of the governing council, He also recognise the presence of the former rector of the institution in person of Mr. M.O. Oladeji, He also thank Deans of every school, Head of Departments, Deputy Registra, Articulate ASUP, distinguish teaching and non Teaching and the students. He then said all protocols are duly observed.

The second lecture was delivered by Professor Aderemi Sulaimon Ajala, before he delivered his lecture, his citation was also read to the hearing of the participants. The topic for his lecture is Ethnography in humanity and social research. He announce his recognition for the Acting Rector and all other member of the invited guest. He start his speech with the introduction and definition of Ethnography, Ethnography is the the branch of anthropology that scientifically describes specific human cultures and societies.  history of Ethnography. He start with Malinowski. Malinowski spent 20 years on research. Bronisław Kasper Malinowski was a Polish-British anthropologist whose writings on ethnography, social theory, and field research have exerted a lasting influence on the discipline of anthropology. Malinowski (1901-1921) Participant Observation, He also talk about Franz Boas 1911 – Quantitative Ethnography through HIRAF and 21st Century Ethnography E – Interview, Mixed methods.

He continues with his speech to talk about Procedures of Ethnography Research.

After his speech, the first session of the programme was round up by vote of thanks from the chairman organising committee.

The second session of the programme entails a quiz competition among three Department from School of Business and Communication Studies (SBCS). The three department are
– Public Administration
– Business Administration
– Local Government and Development Studies.

After the first round of the quiz competition.
Public Administration department had bagged  8 point which make the department claimed the first position automatically. Meanwhile the department of Business Admininistration and Local Government and Development Studies scored 6 point each. The panel of judges had to throw questions of 4 points to the representatives of the each department. At the later instance, department of Business Admininistration scored the whole 2 point while Local Government and Development Studies only scored a point from the knockout round of the quiz competition. The winner deserve a prize, but it was said to be delivered on the 3rd day of the programme. The programme come to an end after the end of the quiz competition.
