Few or little students of The Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki are aware of the happenings surrounding Leadership at the Students’ Union level of the Institution.

Based on this, issues discussed in the Last House Seating, which was held at Architectural Department, on Thursday, 21st of January, 2021, Press Council correspondent was able to come up with the clear picture of the issues at hand pertaining to the Students’ leaders on campus, unleashing the reasons for the ongoing rumours about the Students’ Union President, Comr. Hussein Akeem, popularly know as “White”.
• Petition against The Students’ Union President and The Treasurer.
A Letter of Petition was written against The Students’ Union President, in person of Comr. Hussein Akeem and the Treasurer of the Union, Comr. Ogunbiyi Khadijat, accusing the two executives of carrying out some financial transactions without the knowledge of all the Students’ Union Executives, including the Financial Secretary of the Union, which was termed illegal and somewhat a fraudulent act.
This letter of petition was written by the Financial Secretary of the Students’ Union, Comr. Hassan Mariam, in form of raising an alarm regarding the financial situation of the Union.
However, resolutions were made to address the issues, as suggested by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Sanni Kehinde and the The Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Akande Elijah, which are, to summon the concerned Students’ Union Executives of the Financial body, known as the Financial Committee, and provision of the Union’s Statement of Account and Audit Account.
The Financial Secretary, Treasurer, Auditor and President, will all be summoned to the House for interrogations and subsequent actions will be taken aftermath.
With the look of things and how heated the atmosphere is, the Students’ Representative Council which serve as the watchdogs over the Students’ Union Executive are expected be truthful and unbiased with their findings and investigations and finally, their decisions.
• Allegation Against The SRC Speaker, for Abuse of Office
A letter, with the heading “Letter of Allegation” was written to the House, by the Students’ Union President, Comr. Hussein Akeem Adewale, alleging the Hon. Speaker of the House, Hon.Yusuf Ibrahim, of illegally demanding for a certain amount of commission of the money allocated for the Students’ Union President’s capital project, also claiming that he possess all evidences and facts to back up his allegations.
However, an issue pertaining to this allegation has onced been raised by the Students’ Union Welfare, Comr. Afolabi Ebunoluwa, in a meeting summoned by the Directorate of Students’ Affairs, headed by Mr Adeoti O.M, which had the presence of the Students’ Union Executives and Students’ Representative Coucil Members, but was denied by the Students’ Union President.
The reasons for denying at first, and eventually opening up by the Students’ Union President still remains unknown as he is yet to disclose that. But an allegation of such is a very sensitive one which is as well tantamount to Impeachment or stepping down from power if found guilty eventually.
The resolution of the House, is to send a notification to the two concerned parties to appear in the house in not more than 72 hours for interrogations which will hold on Tuesday, 26th of January by 2pm.
However, the Hon. Speaker of the House who is supposed to preside on issues as such will not be entitled to such power or even be part of the investigating team because of the allegation put up against him for the Abuse of Office.
It is one thing to exercise civil rights as a student of the institution, voting the leaders into office, however, knowing about, and been aware of their administration in their various offices is very important too.

Kudos to the Tops press
