Carrot with the botanical name (Daucus carota) is a crunchy, tasty and highly nutritious root vegetable which is a perfect healthy food.

They are good source of beta carotene, Vitamin K1 and antioxidants.

Carrots have many health benefits which you should not miss out.
They actually have season they grow and when it is their season they are easy to come across and get,likewise they are pocket friendly.

Carrots are in many colors including;
yellow,
white,
red,
orange,
purple,

so don’t be surprised if you see another color other than orange, they are safe to eat too.

Here are their benefits;

• They are rich in Vitamins and Minerals

They are good source of Vitamin A,B6, K1,Biotin,Potassium.

Vitamin A promotes good vision and is important for growth,development and immune function.

Vitamin K1 is important for blood coagulation and can also promote bone health.

• Carrots reduce risk of cancer

Carrots are rich in carotenoids which may help to decrease the risk of cancer such as colon,breast,prostrate cancer.

• They lower blood cholesterol

Intake of carrots helps lower blood cholesterol because high blood cholesterol is a major factor for heart disease.

• They improve eye health

Intake of carrots help diminish night blindness which is caused by low intake of Vitamin and other foods rich in Carotenoid.

• Carrots support weight loss

Carrot is a low calorie food which increase fullness and decrease calorie intake during subsequent meals,so if you want to decrease in weight you can add it to your diet.

Carrots are safe to eat but may have adverse effect in some people if they are allergic to it which may cause their mouth to tingle or itch while in some people it may trigger swelling of the throat.

Also,eating too much carrots can make ones skin a little yellow or orange but this is harmless and safe if you want to be a little yellow.

Likewise oil can be gotten from carrot too which is used in skin care product and also for hair product.
